WORKFORCE: Poly students recruited to restaurants across Riverside.
As Poly’s upperclassmen turn sixteen, they are eager to go out into the workforce and earn some money. With many extracurriculars being canceled this year, students have more time on their hands, and what better way to spend it than by working for some extra cash. The search for jobs can be challenging, but many of Poly’s Students have found them at restaurants. So, where can you find these students working?
Ono Hawaiian Barbeque
This restaurant, located at the Riverside Plaza, employs two Poly students. Allison Manley began working at Ono Hawaiian Barbeque around May in order to earn some extra cash. As a senior, she has to manage her time between school and work which is a challenge. Another Poly senior, Gabby Goar, who began working there around September so she could save up for a car. Gabby enjoys her job, and she is able to balance her time between school and work by taking advantage of breaks to do homework and getting as much sleep as possible to recharge her energy.
Jammin Bread
This local sandwich shop employs a Poly Senior named Alana Manuel. She took this job because she wanted to do something productive during the pandemic and maintain good mental health. With the pandemic at its peak, she didn’t need to worry much about the impact it would have on her schedule. She loves working at Jammin Bread because the environment is friendly and supportive.
These Poly Students have done great work at Ono Hawaiian Barbeque and Jammin Bread. Working gives these students valuable experiences and a great bonus activity to add to their college applications. They will learn how to interact with customers, work as part of a team, and time management. The Riverside community greatly appreciates their work. Go Bears!
