NEWS: After the successful release of the PlayStation 4 in 2013, Sony has finally announced the release date of the new PlayStation 5
The release of the PlayStation 4 in 2013 was revolutionary. Seemingly overnight,it claimed the spot of being the second best selling console of all time, but now that spot may be overtaken with the upcoming console being released in November 2020, the PlayStation 5.
The PlayStation 5 stands out compared to the PlayStation 4 with its physical traits due to the unique shape and the eye-catching white exterior instead of the usual black. Although the console resembles a wifi router found in a normal home, its look caught the eyes of many gamers. While the exterior of the console is exciting enough, the controller does not disappoint either, with its similar clean white look. Of course, it isn’t all about looks, but don’t worry, the PS5 is just as remarkable under the case as it is on the outside.
This year, the PS5’s notable size can be attributed to various factors, one being the new processor within it, which reportedly has download times as fast as 2GB in 0.27 seconds, making its predecessor, the PS4, with at a mere 1GB in 20 seconds, look like a three toed sloth. If the 2GB in 0.27 seconds is true, the PS5 would be 150 times faster than the PS4. In addition to this, the size of the PS5 is also due to its larger heatsinks, ones that will allow for the distribution of heat and also lower the fan speeds of the console itself. If you have had a PS4 before, you know that bad boy can turn into a helicopter while playing games that require intensive graphics. Perhaps one of the most promising features of the PS5 can be attributed to its vow to run games at a steady 120 frames per second at a resolution of 4k, making it one of the top competing consoles for this year. However, a question people may ask is that how does a console of such size have the ability to run at 4k resolution while most high end computers around that price point can’t? Well, it’s mainly just a gimmick as most games will require some sort of compromises such as shadows or even viewing distance being reduced in order to play at such high frames rates and gorgeous graphics. One thing that is for sure is that it can run at 1080p with ease, providing smooth, dynamic gameplay for one’s gaming delights
The PS5 would not cost someone an arm or a leg, just a stomach sold on the black market, which is around $500. Then again, for this beast of a console and an amazing gaming experience, some might say the stomach is worth it.
