SPOOKY: Poly students once again show out for their Halloween costumes.
This year’s Halloween at school was a show of colorful and amazing costumes. Some students went the extra mile, fully committing to their costumes with extra elaborate props to full face makeup. To say these costumes were amazing would be an understatement.
Not only did people do costumes alone, but they also had their friends join in. Lots of our bears did group costumes. To the right, we can see Heejee Yoon, Liana Bozorgi, Cameron DelValle, and Yvahna Evans. This year, they went as the Teletubbies from the TV show popular in the late 90s.
Our bears weren’t the only ones dressing up this year, the teachers did too. The staff theme for Halloween was “Star Wars,” says Mx. Knox, and some teachers went all in. Mrs Wilson was Padmé Amidal, completing the look with face paint and a full costume. Mr. Portillo went as Luke Skywalker, even having baby Grogu at his side. When we asked Mr. Portillo who had his favorite costume this year, he nominated the lovely Ms. Wilson saying “I really liked Ms. Wilson’s costume.” then went on to explain how her character is in close ties with his costume, and that he plans to get a picture with her later. Mx. Knox took a spin on the theme and went as George Lucas, the director of Star Wars. “I even have my script,” they say, showing off the Star Wars script in their front pocket. Even the students loved the teacher’s costumes. Nate Firetag (9) said he “saw one of the teachers dressed as Luke Skywalker,” referencing Mr. Portillo, “[and] it was cool.” And Aiden Lewis (10) says “I saw a lot of the teachers in costumes. I would say my favorite was Mrs. Alvila. I don’t know who she is but it looks awesome.
We agree that Halloween was “one of the funniest days of the year” Makayla Fuqua (10)! The bears had an amazing time celebrating Halloween, people came dressed in costumes from every show, in every grade. There was a lot of participation and a great outcome, with some bears even putting a lot of effort into their costumes. Noemi Martinez went as Steve Harvey, even wearing the bald cap. From twins to enemies, Lucy and Olivia McPherson dress as Batman and the Joker.
Overall, this year was a fun-filled Halloween, with many creative costumes. With the large outcome of students dressed up this year, hopefully, even more students will wear costumes in the future. For now, we had an amazing Poly-ween. Hope to see you next year!
Here at Poly, we are incredibly proud of the spirit we bring to our campus every day. Halloween is no exception. Our Poly Spotlight Staff have collected some of the best costumes from the day to show off everyone’s creativity.
