TERRIFIED: John Krasinski makes his directorial debut in the horror genre with A Quiet Place.

A Quiet Place is directed by and stars John Krasinski, who is best known for playing Jim Halpert on The Office. The film also stars Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott, Noah Jupe as Marcus Abbott, and Krasinski is the father of the family Lee Abbott. The film’s story takes place in a post apocalyptic world where everyone must stay quiet to survive because of deadly monsters who hunt by sound.
The film benefits from its wonderful talent in front of and behind the camera. One of the highlights of the film were the children. The best actor out of the children was Simmonds who is hearing impaired in real life and in the film. She gives an outstanding performance within the film. Especially, in a scene where she has to silently give birth. Another highlight was the chemistry between Krasinski and Blunt, a married couple in the film and in real life, whose love for each other shows in the film. The directing by Krasinski, who also co-wrote the film, makes the film a must watch and a fan of the critics. This movie proves that he’s not just Jim from The Office, he’s also a talented director who knows how to tell a scary story.
The film contains some of the most intense and scary scenes in cinematic history. What makes the scenes so intense is that right from the beginning viewers are transported to a dangerous world and you know what’s at risk. Since the film is mostly quiet, sound becomes your worst enemy. The sounds frighten you when you least expect it and the connection viewers feel to the characters only intensifies the film. However, the scariest parts of the film are the monsters. Which, are the most frightening monsters ever to be on the silver screen.
At the end of the day, the film is about family. It’s about how much love you have for your family and what you would sacrifice for them. This is the type of movie that knows how to play with your emotions. At one moment viewers are scared for their life and another they’re crying their eyes out. A Quiet Place will go down as one of the greatest horror movies of all time.
