MORRIS: A student senior in the special education classes brings joy to others and spreads love to those he meets.
Jacob Morris is a senior at Poly High School who is an excellent example of positivity and kindness for us all. Jacob, more commonly known as ‘Morris,’ has attended Poly his whole high school experience. He has been an active member of Bear Pals, been in a mainstream art class, played baseball through the local league, and loves his “FRIYAYYYYYYS” in the 200s quad.
Each morning, Morris greets those he sees with a huge smile and a “good morning! How are you?” His energy is contagious, and he is excited about something new every day. Whether it’s a field trip to the park, a kickball game at Poly, or just because he gets to see his friends, he is always filled with joy. At Poly, he has become very close friends with Mikey, Joshua, and Darren, all of which will be graduating with him this year.
Morris is known on campus for being in an art class and quickly making many new friends. His classmates posted many instagram stores with pictures of him, and an explanation of what he did that day or how he is special. He drew this self portrait in his class, and you can often find him asking if it’s time for him to go.
Outside of school, he loves to spend time with his family and be outside. He is very active in the baseball team at Shamel Park. He travels with his family, loves to swim, and loves the beach. In an Instagram post, Morris’ mother wrote that he “is the heart of [their] family” and is “a friend to all he meets.”
Morris’ influence will be deeply missed at Poly. He is very sweet and has connected with many people. Overall, he reminds us all to find the joy in the little things, and teaches us to smile. There is so much excitement in everyday life, which can get lost to a normal teenager. However, Morris will always be the first to share a hug and huge smile.
