You certainly do deserve a hug. Let me virtually send you one. Beep, beep! You’ve got mail! It’s a hug from the Poly Spotlight Advice Staff. You’re welcome.

You make a valid point — why get into a relationship with someone if you are just going to dump them at the end of the year? I am here to help you get your “feet back on the ground” — of course I noticed your Beatles reference — so allow me to propose a counterpoint. Sometimes life does not follow the neatly organized, narrow paths that we create for ourselves. Sometimes the knight in shining armor you have longed for since freshman year arrives when you least expect him to, or when it is most inconvenient for you.

You should not throw away opportunities that come your way just because they do not fit into your plan for the future. Life is about what happens right now, not about what might happen later. Take a chance. Open your heart. If this guy is your Jack, do not push let go of hime because you are afraid of what may happen somewhere down the road. Sometimes you must stop controlling every aspect of your life and just go with the flow. Not everything will turn out as you planned, but you may be pleasantly surprised about how free you will feel when you shed doubt and worry from your mind.
