The only way you can know for sure if you can win is if you just go for it. If you take initiative and are the first to volunteer, you are sure to be seen and remembered as someone passionate (if you have not been noticed already for being a long-time club member). Who knows, the vote for you may even be unanimous!
If someone does decide to run against you, don’t take it personally. Be confident, but friendly. And before you run, get as many endorsements as possible so that your massive horde of supporters scares the competition off.
