Do you often ditch class? Do you have a dismissive and disinterested attitude toward your schoolwork and your school in general? Do you often take the easy way out and wear a sweatshirt and yoga pants to school? If so, then you probably have senioritis.
Senioritis is a crippling disease. The National Research Institute for the Study and Prevention of Senioritis reports that four in three high school seniors are diagnosed with senioritis every year. That’s more than 100 percent. However, special interest groups who aim to cure senioritis, such as
the Individuals of the Dakotas against the Oppressive Nature and The Continuous Annoyance of Really Exacerbated Senioritis (IDONTCARES), believe that medical science is on the verge of a breakthrough.
What is this miracle cure, you ask? It’s quite simple, actually. You should find something to look forward to in each school day. It could be hanging out with your friends, listening to a funny teacher’s lecture or creepily staring at the person you have had a crush on since freshman year. Don’t waste any time daydreaming about life after high school; make this moment special. As Omar Khayyam, a Persian philosopher, once said: “Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”
