Despite the fact that girls and guys belong to the same species, it often seems as if each is actually from his or her own planet. Both genders behave differently and thus tend to misread the other. Various misunderstandings lead to misguided assumptions and people begin to believe that the opposite sex is devoid of certain aspects of human behavior. This could not be further from the truth. Though it is true that the two genders do not act or think the same way, these differences are by no means other-worldly. After all, we are all human beings. Yet sometimes it still seems like most people find the opposite gender to be as complicated as a Rubix Cube. The more we try to figure each other out, the more complicated and mixed up everything seems to get. So when you mention that it appears to be that males are the only gender that falls in love, it leads me to wonder whether you have had a bad experience with a particular girl, or if you simply misunderstand the female gender. Whatever the case, I assure you, you are not alone.
If you have been hurt by a girl, or girls, and are thus pessimistic about future relationships, I encourage you to not let heartbreak lead you to the conclusion that all girls are heartless. I cannot stress enough how inaccurate it is to believe that girls do not fall in love. Most people are perfectly capable of possessing this emotion; however, it may be a little harder for some to express and acknowledge it. If someone special has failed to return the devotion you gave them, do not come to the conclusion that the entire gender must be this way as well. Girl can be just as compassionate and loving as you can, but not all girls are going to feels those emotions for every guy they meet. So if you have had a bad experience with a particular girl, or girls, you should stay optimistic because there is AT LEAST one girl who will reciprocate your love and devotion. Just as I am sure you do not love every girl you have come into contact with, not every girl will love you. However, when you fall in love with a girl that also loves you, it will most likely be worth the wait and the pain of searching.
If you haven’t been hurt by any past or prospective relationships, and believe that girls are incapable of love, then I think you may be mixing up some important signals. In response to a previous question, the Advice Columnists published an article regarding the signals a girl may give off if she is interested in a guy. I suggest you read the two responses associated with this question in order to gain a better understanding of how to determine if a girl is really into you or not. Hopefully this will clear up any misconceptions you may have due to the simple misreading of signals and body language and, I hope that in the future you will be able to keep yourself from falling for girls that do not feel the same way you do. I understand this is very difficult and that rejection hurts, but, if you do not put yourself out there you may never find that girl who will share your love.
Though it may seem complicated and daunting, understanding the opposite gender is not as difficult as we often make it out to be. After all, isn’t solving a Rubik’s Cube quite simple once you memorize the patterns and settle into a rhythm? Do not try fumbling around blindly and hoping that you will solve the puzzle, because odds are that you won’t. You need to find out what the girl you are interested in likes in a guy and compare yourself to that model. If you are honest with yourself then you will be able to judge whether or not you stand a chance of being with that particular girl. Then, you may finally find someone who shares your feelings and you may never have to try and solve another Rubik’s Cube again.
