It is understandable that you and your classmates feel frustrated and voiceless. Your teacher’s method may seem contradictory; after all, what’s the point of asking for advice if you’re not willing to accept it? However, if you have the chance to voice your opinion, you should definitely grab a hold of the opportunity. Even if your teacher won’t listen to all of the advice, he or she will probably take frequent complaints into consideration. Your opportunity to give advice is like the public’s opportunity to vote. Most people believe that their vote does not count, but all of those individual votes accumulate into a representation of the majority, which influences the future of politics and society. You and your classmates probably have similar advice for your teacher, so if you all voice your collective opinion he or she will at least take it into consideration. Perhaps your teacher may even decide to implement the advice in future classes.
If you feel it necessary to discuss your concerns with your teacher personally, go for it! Just be sure to have a clear plan of attack; outline all of the issues you wish to discuss with him or her and be sure to explicitly state your concerns. A discussion with your teacher should be an adult conversation.
