LEAPS: Poly Stunt is off to a spectacular start with their competition season!
Stunt is a sport where each team does a series of routines and stunts. These routines are the same for each team, and the more accurately a group performs, the more points they receive. The team with the highest score wins. The first quarter of a game is partner stunts. The second quarter is tosses and pyramids, followed by jumps and tumbling in quarter 3. Quarter 4 is a team routine where a combination of all other 3 quarters is performed.
With so many amazing aspects of this sport, it is easy to have favorite elements. Sophomore Sadie Gutierrez shared that her favorite part of the stunt is “going to games and encouraging her team.” She described how “the energy is always so good, and we all get so excited when we win.” Brooke Barba, a sophomore, loves “how fun and exciting it can be on game days.”
Of course every team has room for improvement. Sophomore Brooke Barba shared that “the most challenging part about stunts is having the ability to keep going when you are tired or drained; you always have to keep putting your 100% out there.” Sadie Gutierrez, a sophomore, is aiming to “improve and become close with the girls on the team.” As for team goals, the girls want to work on “improving and becoming the best team they possibly can by working hard every everyday and proving to themselves that they deserve to win.”
Brooke Barba shared that “the atmosphere at games is so good and energetic. Especially at our home games when a lot of people come to watch and cheer us on.” Sadie Guiterrez thinks that “it can be super competitive for sure, but everyone is always supportive of each other.”
Stunt’s upcoming games are March 31 at Patriot High School, April 2nd at Ramona High School, and April 7 at home! For more information, be sure to follow them on Instagram @riversidepolystunt and come support these amazing ladies at one of their next games!
