Poly Softball: Swinging into the Season

ATHLETICS: Poly’s softball starts the season off with 8 wins and 3 losses and is ready to get another Ivy League win.

Poly’s softball team has been very successful in the past and is currently 7-time Ivy League Champions. Being 7-time champions is no easy feat. With amazing players like freshman Honesty Romero, who has hit 5 home runs this season, and sophomore Marley Audoma, who has thrown 31 strikeouts so far this season, this team is on a roll.

Varsity player Marley Audoma (10) wants to work “on time management between balancing high school season and school work”, as well as taking a leadership role on the team. Sophomore Maya Moran says that the biggest lesson softball has taught her “is that it’s okay to make mistakes. 70% of softball is not perfect” and everyone “just has to try their best and give your 110% every rep.” This attitude along with the team’s supportive nature help her to be a more confident and successful player. It’s this supportiveness and hard work that is helping her get out of “a hitting slump” so she can “make improvements to her swing”.

Marley Audoma (10) shared that “the team’s main goal this season is to be 8-peat Ivy League champions.” On top of this, she looks forward to “growing together as a team.”
