POLY CHEER: Riverside Poly High School’s cheer team was given the opportunity to cheer at the Angels Stadium.

On September 19th, Poly’s cheer performed at Angels Stadium during pregame. The high school cheer night was put together by Chapman College and consisted of about 16 high schools. Poly Cheer was sent a routine they had to learn and perform with other schools. The team reported to the stadium at 4:30 pm and had an hour-long practice.

Fifteen minutes before the first pitch, they walked through the Angel’s tunnel and onto the field to perform. “It was fun, they learned the routine so it wasn’t a challenge. I had fun watching them perform,” says Coach Dom. The team members have similar thoughts about the event. After asking some of the girls how they felt about performing at Angels Stadium, Evelyn Cortes responded, “ It was fun, and good for all of us to go do something as a team outside of Poly and cool to be able to perform with a bunch of different teams.” Mia Chamberlin comments, “ [It was a] fun experience, [and] got to see other local teams. North was there. It was fun because JV and Varsity was there together, [and we had] fun team bonding after the game.” Team Captain Sarah Webber says it was a, “ Fun, different experience, seeing how everyone else performed and how different they learn was cool.”  The cheerleaders seemed to share a similar opinion: performing at such a large venue was a fun experience. The team was able to bond over the performance and enjoy the ball game afterwards. Although some of the girls are not baseball fans, hanging out with each other made the trip worthwhile.
