THANKSGIVING: A time to gather with loved ones, give thanks, and eat some good food.

When the holiday season rolls around, many are quick to forget about that good ole turkey and immediately prepare for Christmas. But not the manager of Marie Callender’s Restaurant and Bakery on 3505 Merrill Ave, Ken Vickson, who is readily arranging pies for the hustle and bustle of the Thanksgiving rush.

Although many individuals are already full of Christmas spirit, Marie Callender’s Restaurant and Bakery’s busiest time of the year is Thanksgiving. “Yeah, we have the most people coming in ordering pies for Thanksgiving than any other time of the year,” says Vickson. People stand outside in the cold for hours patiently waiting to receive their pie orders in time to grub with their loved ones. “Pies are the big sellers and we normally sell around 11,000 pies the week of Thanksgiving,” Vickson explained. I’m sure my family eats at least half of those! If thousands of pies are being ordered in the week of Thanksgiving alone, Marie Callender’s Restaurant and Bakery must be doing something right.

These infamous pies have captured the hearts of countless people. Thankfully, Vickson has some recommendations of his own for others to enjoy. “Well the most popular pies ordered are pumpkin but my personal favorite is the Banana Cream Pie,” Vickson noted. Despite it being autumn, pumpkin does not always need to be the flavor of treats during this season. If you want to impress your friends and family this holiday season, take Vickson’s advice; switch it up a bit and bring a banana cream pie to Thanksgiving dinner. It’ll allow all of the guests to be in awe of the delectable taste.

Food is the gateway to the soul, so bringing tasty food to the Thanksgiving feast is a must. Stop by Marie Calandar’s Restaurant and Bakery to bring the best pies to the table this holiday season. Make sure to give the manager, Ken Vickson, a warm greeting as the pie’s delicious flavors take over celebrations.
