Action. Romance. Horror. Sci-fi. These worlds were brought together by Poly’s very own ASB during the 2023 homecoming dance that took place in Poly’s Quad on September 23. To begin the experience, students were welcomed into the event on a red carpet that helped bring the theme to life. According to Scarlett Burnside (10), “the DJ was actually good this year because he let us give him song recommendations.” Some hit artists including, Nikki Minaj and Katy Perry, provided the perfect environment for a wild mosh pit.  As some danced, others helped themselves to the free selection of sweet treats including brownies, cupcakes, cookies, and more. Dippin’ Dots were also available for the small price of five dollars!

As the party grew, so did the tension to see who the top ten nominees for the annual Homecoming King and Queen were.  When it was finally time to announce the contestants, well known member of ASB, Parker DeAnda (12), came forward to share the news. The top ten senior 2023 Homecoming nominees were as follows: Karol Rivera, Johnny Monforte, Nova Camacho, Carlee Díaz, Emilio Borunda, Neveah Henderson, Lae’jon Johnson, Miguel Buan, Thyda Hang, and Rinnah Angeles. All of the revealed students were then cheered for and congratulated on their progression towards being the Homecoming King or Queen! After the news was shared, the night continued with its ecstatic energy. The photo booth provided great memories as pictures were taken with creative poses and props.  People enjoyed others’ company, whether inside the raging dance circle, or watching from the sidelines. Overall, the dance was considered a success to many and was the perfect way to kick off Poly’s Homecoming Week!
