The Poly girls’ water polo team went undefeated in league play, became the Inland Valley League Champions and was the CIF Division 5 runner-up. The Lady Bears breezed though league play, beating opponents with seemingly no effort and with scores that reflected a water polo point massacre.
With such a great league showing, the team entered into the CIF playoffs. It won every round standing between it and the championship and eventually faced off with Crescenta Valley in the finals. The Lady Bears performed well, but the opposition’s goalie was only letting in the occasional goal. Crescenta eventually went on an unanswered four-goal streak to win the game 10-5.
Despite this loss in the finals, the girls had an amazing season and are expected to have another one next year. The only senior starter leaving the team is Paizlee Dreyer, meaning six of the seven starters will play for the team next year. The team is very optimistic about its chances at another league title and the possibility of a CIF title next year. The Lady Bears finished with an overall record of 29-6.
