WINNERS:After winning their league, Sophia Soto, Jaisyn Gless, and Sophia Luna are ready to bring it to CIF.

The quiet green hills of Western Hills golf course fill with young girls hoping to take home a win in individual CIF. There are 140 girls in all competing, three of them being Poly’s Sophia Soto (11), Jaisyn Gless (11), and Sophia Luna(10). Western Hills is a very difficult course with a cut of 81 swings total. Although the girls did very well, they were not able to move on to the next round of CIF. Sophia Soto (11) had a score of 85, Jaisyn Gless (11) had a score of 89, and Sophia Luna (10) had a score of 92. “I was upset because last year I missed it by a few strokes as well, but now I have a goal” says Sophia Soto (11), who was only four strokes away from the cutoff. Even though the girls did not move on in individual CIF, they still get the chance to compete at team CIF, where they had an overall score of 447. The girls recently moved up to division two, where the competition was much stronger, and they ended up in 17th place overall. The girls individual strokes were Sophia Soto (11) with 80, Bella Soto (9) with 89, Jaisyn Gless (11)with 90, Sophia Luna (10) with 91, Yasmine Romero(12) with 97, and Sydnee Salcedo (11) with 97. Congratulations on a great season to all of Poly’s golf girls!
