28 February 2013: On Thursday, February 28th, the Poly boys’ swimming team defeated Patriot High School 118-52 at the Cove Aquatic Center in Riverside. Poly’s own Garret Shimko (11) secured CIF qualification numbers in his three victories at 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 4×50 feestyle. The girls’ swimming team dominated as well, planting big numbers against Patriot with their victory 122-46. The girls squad captured 1st place in the 200 medley relay (2:05.0), swimming was Lindsey Clary (12), Hannah Landry (9), Erin Kothlow (10), and Jacqueline Bywater (11). Clary also attained first place in the 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley, while Allison Milligan (10) received first in the 100 backstroke and Landry earned first in 100 breaststroke.
The swimming team’s next match is at home on Tuesday, March 5th, against Ramona High School at 3:15 p.m.
