INTEGRITY: In the Riverside community, there are more ways students can contribute towards bettering the lives of those in need than one may know.

By Mark Valdes, Staff Writer

Every community falls into the spiderweb of harsh living and environmental conditions. From money problems to trash issues, many communities are in need of more services. Community service allows people to help the world in many different ways.

When thinking about helping out a community, one may believe that there isn’t much that can be done when, in reality, there are many different ways one can assist those in need. Almost every town has a shelter or center that needs extra hands to get work done. By donating to charities, people can give their town the startup it needs to grow. To get students involved, Riverside County’s websites is sharing different options of work in the community. Even Poly High offers clubs that focus in on student participation in the community. For example, the Interact club, a club run by students for students, helps the community by offering care to people in need. Another club on campus, called the Pet Center Community Service club, takes on the challenge of helping pets who were once abandoned.

Community service is an important way towards making the world a better place. Every act of helpfulness, whether small or large, makes improvements to the environment. The world is in need of assistance because of people who dump and discard without thinking of the harm it can cause. Although some students may view community service as unappealing or lame, giving back to the community is a rewarding experience that benefits Riverside in many ways.
