OUTSTANDING: The Poly dance team took the competition by storm at their national championship in Florida.
This last weekend the Poly dance team competed at the Contest of Champions National Competition in Orlando, Florida, winning two first overall awards for their pom and jazz routines. The dance team defied even their own expectations with their showing at the national competition.
The dance team left for LAX early Thursday morning, ready to catch a flight to Orlando. There they competed over the course of 3 days, performing 7 dances over the weekend. The team ended up placing in 6 of those dances, including two first-place finishes. Poly finished first in their pom routine, even receiving the best in category award. They also received two choreography awards along with the spirit award.

For the dance team seniors, this was a particularly meaningful experience. The four-year seniors were immensely grateful for the opportunity. For senior captain Maddison Duncan, this was a special experience as the team “went into the competition knowing how tough the competition would be and still ended up winning first in two dances.” Poly beat over 30 teams in the Pom division to get the highest overall score. For senior Delaney Adcock, this competition “made [her] final season something really incredible, and [she] will undoubtedly cherish these memories for years to come.”
After their incredible showing at nationals, the team enjoyed several days at both Disney World and Universal Studios, celebrating their wins. The team achieved far more than they ever thought possible and made memories that will last a lifetime. Poly High School is proud to welcome back the dance team after their immense success at their national competition.
