MEMORABLE: Poly’s Homecoming dance was a night of enjoyment for many.
Poly High School’s 2022 Homecoming dance was a major success for guests, party planners and chaperones; the night was filled with fun and love, a well-deserved break from school and a closing act for the first quarter.
The celebration took place in the Poly Quad, with a dance floor and strobe lights set up within it. Near the library, the picture booth was very popular, and many groups of friends occupied it, posing with small accessories. Near the 800’s stairway, the snack bar always had a line, serving candy bars, chips, and Dippin Dots for people to cool off after an intense dance session. Many people further took a break with some ice cream. Because the music selection was filled with great songs, however, some students on the dance floor never came off, and multiple dance circles formed throughout the night.
According to the predictions of Izzy Yrungaray (11), Savi Cotteril (11), and Carol Rivera (11), the dance started well and could only go up from there. “We’re gonna have a really fun time,” Rivera said. “Setting up the dance went amazing,” Cotterill added, “a lot better than the Glow Back to School dance, which is a good start to a positive Homecoming experience.” Nadia Lewis (10) said “it’s super bright and creative, and everyone is having a lot of fun.” Valeria Moreno (11) had an amazing time, commenting “I love the music, I love the games, and it’s so cool to be here.”
Even our administrators were delighted in the success of the dance. Dr. Kells was grateful the dance was going so well: “It’s going very smoothly,” she commented. “Students seem to be smiling and laughing a lot and dancing.” Mrs. Vaca agreed, adding “it’s great to see so many different faces and different student groups here tonight.” They both concurred that this year’s school events and dances will only get better as the year continues. “We have a great ASB who is really putting their ear to the floor and listening to what all students want to see at dances,” Kells said. Championing a need for even further student involvement, Vaca voiced, “If we can get more students involved and engaged in school, I guarantee our performance will be even better.”
So far, this year’s Poly events have gone swimmingly, and most students cannot wait to see what is next. With a great dance, triumphant Spirit Week, and Poly Football’s win against Rancho Christian, Homecoming Week was undoubtedly successful…
