CULINARY ARTS: The Poly’s Culinary Program’s new chef comes with exciting new ideas.
This year, Poly’s culinary program hired a new chef, Chef Lovett. Lovett believes the program offers a great pathway into the Culinary and Hospitality Industry. When asked to describe how the culinary program runs, he claimed that the culinary class “ is about the art of making food- start with the basics but keep pushing towards exciting modern food.” With all of this delicious food, the Poly staff can’t get enough of the Grizzly Grill, which has kept the culinary program busy. Chef Lovett informs us that “students work through all jobs in a restaurant- from dishwashing, bussing, prep, host, food server, pastry and culinary chef duties.” Along with the variety of jobs, students will be introduced to an assortment of exciting new foods in class. In addition to the exciting new foods, Chef Lovett is striving to work with the county to obtain an updated facility. For now, the program is “working on the classroom appearances and capabilities.” As for the future, Chef Lovett hopes to secure a food truck that will be brought to school and community events. Although some of these goals will take time, the Poly community is eager to see the amazing things Chef Lovett will introduce to the culinary program.
