EDUCATION: Poly Bear Pals take a field trip to CBU.
By Kate Weggeland, Staff Writer
Poly Bear Pals, the Poly High School Special Needs organization, left campus on May 17 to explore California Baptist University. Mrs. Christensen, the Bear Pals teacher, organized the trip.
The Bear Pals students and other Poly student volunteers departed on buses to the campus. The Bear Pals students enjoyed the CBU pool and had the opportunity to play water games with Bear Pals student volunteers, who joined them on their excursion. “We swam in the shallow end for a couple of hours. It was a really fun experience getting to spend time with them,” Alex Holmblad (11) explained. Some of the students participated in friendly games of volleyball. According to Bear Pals President Carly Comer (12), the field trip to CBU “was great. It was amazing to have all the special needs students in a different environment.”
After students finished swimming, they ate lunch at the campus’s Nutrition Center. They had orange chicken, rice and cookies. As well as enjoying the food, students thought that the trip was a “ good opportunity to talk with our friends and spend time with those who are close to us,” Holmblad stated.
“ The kids all had a great time, as well as the members of Bear Pals!” Comer said.
