RALLY: Poly High School says no to bullying!

By Sofia Anderson, Staff Writer

It is important for a student to feel safe and secure while in a school environment. Since bullying is a common occurrence in high schools across the country, Poly is attempting to prevent students from being bullied at school.

Poly High School hired ASA High School Tour on April 16, 2018 to come talk about anti-bullying to its students.  During their rally they bring in professional BMX bike riders such as Trevor Meyer, Colton Satterfield, Pat, Casey, and Coco Zurita. They keep students interested by bringing in BMX bike riders to do tricks keeping the students in awe. While the show goes on, the announcer running the rally speaks about how bullying can hurt others and why bullying should not be done. This is an innovative way to advocate anti-bullying in high school while keeping students entertained and interested in the subject. “This rally kept me on my toes, it was such an amazing show to watch! This was a perfect way to promote anti bullying!” said Nia Pluimer (9). “ It was more unique than any anti-bullying rally I have gone to. I thoroughly enjoyed it.” said Emma Nosenchuck (9).

The ASA High School Tour also brought in a group of marines who added  competitive aura to the show.  Nearly every high schooler feels the need to have some competition in anything they are doing, so the marines challenged them to a pull up challenge. This allowed the crowd to participate in the show and go down and meet some of the BMX riders while they were down there, engaging the audience.

Many of Poly’s students did enjoy the show and would want to see it again. As a school we thank ASA High School Tour for coming to our school and presenting awareness for bullying while putting on a fantastic show.
