The Poly girls’ soccer team became three-peat league champions after this 2012-2013 season and made it to the quarterfinals of CIF. The girls’ biggest competition during league play was Canyon Springs High School, which beat Poly in one of the two games played in that matchup.
Due to their high league standing and a good CIF ranking, the Lady Bears’ first playoff game was against a wildcard team. The Lady Bears crushed Lynwood High School 6-0, with Poly forward Megan Pfrunder (11) scoring a hat trick of three goals. Other notable players include forward Victoria Gama (11), forward/midfielder Jonnae Joseph (10) and defender Taylor Russel (10).
This huge win advanced Poly to the second round of CIF against Notre Dame Academy who they trounced with a score of 3-0. The home quarterfinal game was against La Mirada, in which the Lady Bears lost 2-1.
The Soccer Officials Association honored Poly girls’ soccer as the only team from the Inland Empire to receive the Sportsmanship Award. Also, Coach Jaimi Brewer was awarded the Outstanding Girls Varsity Coach of 2012-2013 in addition to receiving her 100th career win at Poly High School. The team finished 10-1 in league and 16-4-7 overall.
