The Poly Girls’ softball team lost its first game of the season in the final of the Stu Penter Classic to former Big VIII league rival Santiago HS. Despite only allowing 2 hits, standout pitcher Janine Petnecky (11) walked four and hit another batter, and on the offensive end Poly was only able to put a single run on the board. The loss marks the second straight year Poly has lost in the finals of the Stu Penter Classic.
