SPOTLIGHT: Poly welcomes new teacher, Ms. Alberry, to Bear Country

Poly has been fortunate enough to welcome several new teachers to the Poly staff this year, and Tracy Alberry is one of them. Growing up Ms. Alberry had a “love of creative writing and poetry,” so she decided that the best way to follow these passions was to pursue a career as an English teacher. And she has been doing exactly that since 1991. Now with almost 31 years of teaching experience under her belt, Ms. Alberry has joined Poly’s English Department as a world literature teacher.

After graduating from high school, Ms. Alberry earned her bachelor’s degree at Cal State Northridge, followed by her master’s degree from Cal State East Bay soon after. She then began working toward her doctorate at Cal State San Bernardino, which she is still completing. With her masters in online education, she began working in the Riverside Virtual School program for several years. However, with the decrease in students attending RVS, Ms. Alberry decided to switch paths and interview for a position at Poly. She quickly received the position, and she soon joined the Poly teaching staff.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Alberry has many interests, including both poetry and creative writing. She enjoys being able to write for leisure. Additionally, she has recently taken up a new hobby – dog training. Ms. Alberry now has two half-labrador half-German-Shepherd puppies that she has been training. In her free time, she watches videos online to help improve her dog training skills. She has used her teaching skills from the classroom to help her as she takes up this new hobby.

Ms. Alberry has many goals with this new group of students for the coming school year. She hopes to “help kids succeed” in both her class and in the outside world. She also wants to give students an “understanding of the importance of English in the real world.” Ms. Alberry is thrilled to have joined the Poly family and is ready to make a home here in Bear Country.
