SENIOR: Senior Caleb Phillips and his four years of memories and experiences throughout high school.
Caleb Phillips is 17-years-old and a senior at Poly High school who has only spent three years as a Poly student after moving to Riverside at the end of his Freshman year. During his freshman year Caleb would play for his school’s football team, Rim Of The World in Blue Jay, San Bernardino where he would live with his aunt.
When Phillips got to Poly he found out about our Theatre program, and signed up for a small improv group known as Comedey Sportz, where he would compete and perform head to head during choice-rounds using improv games as well as performing scenes. Surprisingly, what Phillips didn’t realize was that he would be participating in this club for the next 3 years, and taking on theatre as well. By finding his love for theater and experimenting with the different roles and positions played in every production, Caleb has found he particularly enjoys helping when it came to building sets for shows, as well as filming a few if he has time.
However Theatre was not the only thing that struck Phillip’s interest; he was also able figure out what he would enjoy to study later on in life. A more complicated topic known as Quantum entanglement and anti-electron collision, also known as a theory called the Butterfly effect, was rather intriguing to him. To be honest, I don’t really understand how to explain that whole spiral proposition. Nevertheless Phillip has big dreams of becoming a college professor, after high school he plans on receiving his associates at Riverside Community College and continuing a study of behavioral analysis where he can attend a four-year university to major in chemistry then to become a professor. Shockingly, Phillip finds a big love for all topics on science and math such as calculus, mathematical physics, physics and logic, having such an absorbing passion for these areas of study.
Besides school Phillip has dedicated two years of his time to Judo, a martial arts combat sport revolving around immobilizing and keeping your component down. After continuously practicing and going to competitions he has competed in even winning first place in some of these tournaments. A further view into Caleb fascinations circles back to his interest in behavioral analysis, another area where Phillip has volunteered his time. Encouraging people of all ages holds a special place in Phillips’ heart. As a person who had to deal with the reality of the world, he always wants to give back and help out others.
Friendship means a lot to Caleb, it’s what has got him through high school and life in general; he especially appreciates his best friend who will also be graduating this year with him. A strong friendship is always important and makes you who. It is pivotal to have friends, as “a person without a friend isn’t lonely…but just alone,” Phillip explained. A good friend will always be there for you no matter the state you are in. Always grateful for the people that he has built relationships with and surrounded himself with in his life, Caleb Phillips is ready for the journey of independence and is here to spread love and assurance.
Much luck to you Caleb!
