CLUBS: There is a club for everyone, come and take a look at Wizarding World Club.
Poly High School is the place to find a club to belong. No matter what your hobbies are, there is a club that is suited for you. If you do not see one you like, then you can always create one yourself – just like Thatiana Smith did! This year a new club – the Wizarding World Club – was created.
“So basically, all we talk about is Harry Potter, the Fantastic Beast Series, and take Harry Potter quizzes,” the club’s president, Thatiana Smith (12) explains. Being involved in multiple activities including, choir, theater, and video crew takes a lot of work. Creating this club to talk to people with similar interests was Smith’s way to de-stress.
When asking the club’s Vice President ,Sarah (Geki) Smith (12), what her favorite Harry Potter was, she answered, “definitely the last movie [Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2].” She believes that the last movie is so “gut wrenchingly tragic,” showing how much respect and “appreciation that [she] has for the series.” When asked what is the best character in the series, she responded, “Ron Weasley, but specifically during the 2006 era.” After graduation, she hopes to use the skills she gained in the dual enrollment program to earn a doctorate in psychology and be a school counselor/ advocate for those with disabilities.
The secretary of Wizarding World Club, Hayden McIntosh (12), explains that she wants to “have fun bringing Harry Potter fans together.” Along with Harry Potter, some of McIntosh’s passions include theater and choir. When she is not attending school activities she is spending her time singing, working on a Farm called: Y U Farms, and much more. When she graduates she hopes to graduate college and get a job as a compound pharmacist, while maintaining the arts as a hobby. This club can help achieve her goals by improving her communication skills by debating and conversing about a shared love.
“Anyone who loves Harry Potter” or wants to learn about it can join the club, states McIntosh. Come to a meeting during lunch and learn about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Just text @dobbysock to 81010 or type the same code into Remind to find out when and where the next meeting is.
