FOCUS: Juan Correa- Traveling around the world teaching and helping others.

Juan Correa but as we know him, Mr. Correa, is a new teacher this year at Poly High School has traveled the globe teaching and helping others. Correa is a foreign language teacher at Poly and supports himself with his international passion for literature.  He focuses on not only the students, but the importance of graduating, as he believes that “we should take advantage of education in America and preserve it.” He vocalizes that graduation is of such importance, seeing it as a new stage in a young person’s life. Correa’s main priority is building a strong character while growing a safe environment in his classroom.

Correa grew up in Riverside, California. Throughout his high school experience, he worked and taught English at a church, continually developing his love for education. Growing up, he enjoyed sports such as soccer and cross country; once Correa graduated high school he attended California Polytechnic University. He took pride in their diverse program and went on in life to travel and share his passion with others. Mr. Correa has traveled to Paris, Peru, Italy, France and Mexico, working as a multicultural humanitarian.

After hearing everything, it is hard to believe that Mr. Correa’s life was full of obstacles. He explains that “it’s difficult to overcome obstacles thinking I couldn’t do it.” He always puts up a strong character to help others and appreciate the gift of teaching. Thanks to his mom, Mr. Correa kept occupied, never shying away from new opportunities. He was able to combine the two of the passions he has, traveling and teaching. Correa has taught in Mexico and Peru, and before working at Poly, was teaching in Paris, France.

Overall, Mr. Correa, a multicultural, passionate and greatly achieved man has achieved more than he could have ever dreamed. From learning to speak several languages fluently, to traveling to wonderful places around the world, Mr. Correa is living his best life. Mr. Correa is one of the friendliest people on the campus, always treating everyone with kindness. He always tries to “treat [his] students with care and provide a safe environment.” Welcome to Poly, Mr. Correa!
