GAME: The seniors and staff battle in an intense game of basketball.
On the evening of April twenty-sixth, the bears packed the den to watch the annual Senior VS. Staff Basketball Game. Apprehension filled the crowd, as bets were being placed on who would win while both teams warmed up. The stands were full of parents and students armed with large posters supporting their favorite classmate or staff-member. A rumor of extra credit caused a surplus of posters with Mr. Schindler’s name and face in the stands. The game began with a lively introduction of the starting lineup, with everyone in the gym excitedly sizing up the competition.
Starting the game off, the teachers came out strong, scoring the first point of the game and proving to the senior players that they were in for a fight. After countless intense near misses and fouls that kept the crowd at the edge of their seats, by the end of the first half, the staff had twenty-two points, with the students closely trailing behind at nineteen points. The students, however, did not lose hope. By the middle of the second half, the students briefly took a lead, but by the end, the teachers were triumphant with a score of forty-four to thirty-six.
It was slightly disappointing for those who hoped the students would win, but no one could deny that the loss was worth watching their favorite supervisors and teachers on the court. “The game was very fun, but of course I wish we could have won. I guess it’s up to the seniors next year if they do it again” remarks senior player, Maulichi Koch. Not only were the players counting on their peers, but so was the audience, “I had faith in my fellow classmates to pull out a win but it was still fun to watch the teachers fight for victory,” says senior Taylor Nelson. Congratulations to all the players that made the game so memorable!
