UPCOMING: After much practice, the girls are excited for their new Water Polo season!

Girls Water Polo is just beginning and has high hopes for a successful season. They had their first game Wednesday November 30th, resulting in a victory of fifteen to five.  Head Coach, Bill Grisham and Team Captains Tea Summers (12), Reese McCarty (12), and Delaney Norris (12) are very excited for the upcoming season and what it holds.  According to Grisham, his goal for the season is to “win league and win the first round of CIF and see where that takes us.”  He wants his team to try his best and get as far as they can go.  Grisham’s favorite part about the team is how “they all listen and ask questions while trying to learn the game and understand it better.”  He believes that the girls biggest strength is how they work as a unit, and get along as a family.

Summers is the Varsity starting goalie and one of the Team Captains, with it being her senior year she is excited to take Lane Muller (10)  under her wing and prepare her for next year when she is no longer there. Summer’s favorite thing about being on the team “ is the friendships she has made over the years.”  Being a Team Captain, she enjoys “being a figure who can be a friend and a leader.”  One of her goals for this season, like Grisham, is for her team to be league champions, and for this season to be the best one yet.

McCarty, another Captain, has been on the water polo team for all of her high school career.  Her favorite part about playing on this team is “the friends she has made and how she got to spend at least two hours with them everyday.”  Every year her friendships with her teammates and coaches become stronger.  “I like being captain because of how close I’ve become with my coaches”, explains McCarty.  She is sad this is her last season and it is all coming to an end but hopes for it to be a fun and successful last year.

Norris, the team’s newest Captain, has played all four years of high school.  Norris enjoys the role of being one of the team captains because she likes to “help out the coaches and the team.   Her favorite thing about being on the team is “being around everybody and coming together during the games.”  The team’s relationships are a big part of what brings them together to be great.  Everyone is excited and hopeful to watch this season of girls water polo.
