GOAL-ORIENTED: Academic-athlete takes on high school.

Louanne Buan (12) is a senior at Poly High School who has been here since day one and is now getting ready to graduate. Buan (12) loves her school and has loved the connections she’s made here. When given the question, “what was your favorite thing about high school?” she responded delightedly, “definitely the people I have met and the lessons I’ve learned from everyone. Every single person in my life that I have met in high school has changed my life and shaped it in some way.” When it comes to Poly pride, there is no one like Buan (12) on game day. She is always in the student section decked out in Poly gear and will be cheering on her team no matter what. Buan (12) is on the road to graduation and has done almost all she can to make her stand out among the other seniors. She is the captain of both the Water Polo and Girls Swim Team at Poly High. She has been on both teams all four years and with such fervent school spirit and determination, she has climbed her way to the top. Not only is she a top student athlete, but she is also in many extracurriculars such as Link Crew, Spanish Honor Society, Photography, and Sports Medicine. Buan’s goals for the future include working with athletes in some line of Sports Medicine and to travel as much as she possibly can. When meeting Buan (12) for the first time, she might be intimidating, but once you get to know her, you will definitely see the fun and goofy side of her. “When people meet me for the first time they think I am very serious because I put on a very serious standoffish front, but really once you get to know me I am a very fun person to be around.” Her favorite hobby is cooking and baking, and she can spend hours in the kitchen making her famous desserts. Taylor Nelson (11), Buan’s friend, notes that “Louanne’s cookies were made in heaven; they are very delicious”. Her applications for colleges will be packed with extracurriculars and accomplishments as a four year student athlete. She has done this not only to fill her high school years with hard work and school spirit, but also to get into some of her dream colleges like SDSU. Louanne Buan is a stellar student at Poly, and we’re sure the best is yet to come for her!
