REDEMPTION: Producing a good film does not mean one needs to put in the latest trends, or apply every stereotype of our youth to the film, it is when one fully understands what makes people’s feelings move.

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020) gained attention in mid 2019 after posters were released in theaters. The movie in its earlier form still stared that famous blue blur but there was something off about his design that turned fans away from any hope of the film being decent. Thankfully when the creators caught wind of the controversy surrounding the design, they fixed it to look more animated and friendly like Sonic is expected to look. Everyone agreed that this was a good call on the creators part and that the last thing to do was to wait for the film to be released.

Sonic The Hedgehog was released on February 14 and in many people’s opinions, was a perfect swing and a hit. The film had appropriately timed jokes, heartwarming scenes of friendship, and ideal morals thrown in as a cherry on top. The plot of the movie sources on a town called Green Hills where a cop named Tom Wachowski (played by James Marsden) finds a fast blue hedgehog named Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz). Character Tom Wachowski quickly realizes that they are in deep trouble due to the infamous Doctor Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey) wanting to experiment on Sonic, so they must escape by driving to San Francisco and collecting the rings that Sonic dropped in order to go to a safer home.

The actors did a phenomenal job emulating and analyzing the personalities that the characters are know for. Jim Carrey especially hit it home with his crazy scientist character in the film by portraying his character with enthusiasm and lots of energy. He had a fair amount of screen time, which did not leave any Jim Carrey fans complaining. Although the movie was well done, it too had a few flaws, such as having rushed scenes whilst other seemed too drawn out. But these flaws were minuscule in comparison to the overall quality of that the movie. The film still stands high despite them.

Sonic The Hedgehog showed what it was made of and proved that if one listens to the advice of fans, then one can surely put a smile on an audience’s face. The movie is worth watching and worth the wait, So give it a watch if you have the time!
